JPR brought together academics from Europe and the Jewish world this week for a one-day seminar in London to prepare for our forthcoming research work for the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
The seminar was attended by some of the world’s leading specialists in the social scientific study of Jewish populations, including Professor Sergio DellaPergola of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Professor Lars Dencik of Roskilde University in Denmark, Professor Eliezer Ben-Rafael of Tel Aviv University and Olaf Glöckner of the Moses Mendelssohn Centre at the University of Potsdam.
Also in attendance were two senior representatives of FRA – Ioannis Dimitrakopoulos and Sami Nevala – and Olivia Ryan from the international research agency, Ipsos.
The seminar focused on some of the methodological issues around how to survey European Jewish populations, as an initial preparatory step for the FRA survey next year on Jewish people’s perceptions and experiences of antisemitism.
