What future for Jews in Europe?

What future for Jews in Europe?

JPRs' recent research featured strongly at the annual conference of the Central Council for Jews in Germany (Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland) in Berlin in November.

The event, entitled "One People, One Community" and which was attended by over 600 delegates, included a keynote address from German President Joachim Gauck, and presentations from a wide range of speakers from Germany, across Europe, Israel and the United States.

Jonathan Boyd presented his new paper on "Jewish Life in Europe: Impending Catastrophe or Imminent Renaissance", which went on to frame an in-depth discussion between some of European Jewry's top leaders, including Roger Cukierman (President of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France), Maram Stern (Assistant Executive Vice-President of the World Jewish Congress), Herbert Winter (President of the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities), Rabbi Joshua Spinner (Executive Vice-President and CEO of the Ronald S. Lauder Foundation), and Barbara Lerner Spectre (Founding Director of Paideia, the European Institute for Jewish Studies in Sweden).
