"Europe Transformed"

Key elements of JPR’s extensive work on European Jewish demography and sociology were presented at a major pan-European conference convened by JCC Global in partnership with the Zentralwohlfahrtsstelle der Juden in Deutschland (ZWST) in Frankfurt this month.

The conference, entitled “Europe Transformed,” was aimed at employees and executives working in Jewish community centres across Europe, and alongside a series of lectures, workshops and presentations, it involved an in-depth analysis of Frankfurt as a case study for understanding Jewish community development. As part of this work, participants had opportunities to visit the Jewish senior citizens’ centre, the Jewish Lichtfeldschule, the old Jewish cemetery and the Ignatz-Bubis-Gemeindezentrum.

Jonathan Boyd gave one of two keynote lectures at the conference, drawing both on JPR’s recent work on European Jewish demography and our analysis of existing data on antisemitism in Europe, to provide essential context for the deliberations.
