Jewish social scientists and political scientists gathered in Washington DC this week, as part of a consultation run by the Pew Research Centre on research about the American Jewish population.
Pew conducted a major study of Jewish Americans in 2013 – the first national study for over a decade – and the event marked the fifth anniversary of the publication. Prior to the consultation, Professor Arnold Eisen, Chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary and renowned American Jewish historian, shared his reflections on the results and impact of the study at an evening event aimed at community leaders and journalists.
The consultation itself was attended principally by American scholars, but JPR’s Executive Director, Dr Jonathan Boyd, was one of two international researchers invited to participate, due to our work conducting similar surveys in the UK and across Europe.
