JPR Executive Director, Dr Jonathan Boyd, gave a major presentation at the European Parliament in Brussels today, sharing his insights from two recent studies of antisemitism in Europe.
The presentation formed a central part of 'The Fight against Antisemitism' conference, an event convened by Viorica Dăncilă, the Prime Minister of Romania, the country which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Alongside Mrs
Jonathan Boyd's presentation drew on the findings of the recent European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) survey of Jewish people's perceptions and experiences of antisemitism in 13 EU Member States - a study undertaken for the EU by JPR working in partnership with Ipsos - as well as the Special Eurobarometer study on perceptions of antisemitism undertaken by the European Commission.
In his remarks, Boyd highlighted the high proportions of Jews who see antisemitism as a growing problem in their countries, the need to tackle antisemitism at its root as well as addressing the security needs of Jewish communities, the importance of educating about Jewish life and history as well as about the Holocaust, and the necessity to directly address the challenges of antisemitism online.
