What works in Jewish education?

Senior Research Fellow, Dr David Graham, presented a groundbreaking pilot seminar in July looking at the impact of Jewish educational programmes on the Jewish identities of Jews in Britain.

The presentation, given to a group of senior professional Jewish educators in Britain, was based on new analysis of JPR's 2011 National Jewish Student Survey, and uses advanced statistical methods to assess the extent to which different educational interventions - Jewish schools, summer camps, Israel Experience programmes and others - have influenced the cohort of Jewish students included in the survey. This group is of particular interest because it was the first to have been educated in the "Continuity" era, which has seen unprecedented investment in Jewish education in the UK.

The challenging findings from the research are currently being written up, and are scheduled to be presented more widely in 2014.
