Commissioned Research

JPR regularly undertakes research work for clients both within and beyond the Jewish community. We hold several major datasets on Jews and Jewish issues in the UK and across Europe which were designed to support Jewish community interests, and which can be used to help clients understand the populations and topics that most concern them. …read more

Monitoring and Evaluation

Jewish charities and foundations are continually involved in developing and running initiatives designed to protect, develop and enhance Jewish life, and local, national and European governments are repeatedly developing strategies and plans to combat antisemitism and protect freedom of religion. Yet more often than not, little is understood about how effective these initiatives are, or whether they are having the desired effects. …read more

Antisemitism in Society Initiative

Investigating the extent to which anti-Jewish and anti-Israel attitudes exist within society constitutes an important part of our programme on antisemitism. If this particular type of prejudice is ever going to be effectively combated, it is essential to know how far and how deeply it reaches into different parts of society, and whether these levels are changing over time. It is also important to understand when and where anti-Israel attitudes become antisemitic, and indeed, when and where they do not. …read more

Jewish Views of Antisemitism

Community Outreach Programme

Our research team is generating new insights about contemporary Jewish populations and issues all the time, and as part of our charitable mission, we are keen to share our findings with the individuals and organisations that are best placed to use them for their own policy development purposes. With this in mind, we regularly present our work at community events and academic conferences in the UK, across Europe, in Israel and the United States and around the world. …read more

Community Statistics Programme

One of the key ways to understand any Jewish population is by investigating its most fundamental social statistics – numbers of births and deaths, immigration and emigration, community affiliation and Jewish school enrolment. In the UK, there has been a long tradition of gathering these types of data, led by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Today, this work is undertaken by JPR on behalf of the Board of Deputies. …read more

European Jewish Research Archive

Our European Jewish Research Archive (EJRA) is a publicly available online repository of research publications about contemporary European communities published since 1990. Sponsored by the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe, the archive went live in 2015, and works in collaboration with the Berman Jewish Policy Archive (BJPA) in New York so that each one is accessible from the other’s website. …read more

European Jewish Demography Unit

Established in January 2019, JPR’s Demography Unit is dedicated to generating data about Jewish populations in Europe to help support community development across the continent. Currently supported by the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe, it is led by JPR Senior Research Fellow, Dr Daniel Staetsky, and chaired by the world’s leading expert in Jewish demography, Professor Sergio DellaPergola. …read more
