Episode two: Raymond and Jon discuss values with David Mason, Executive Director of HIAS+JCORE
Dr Jonathan Boyd

94% of Jews in the UK say that moral and ethical behaviour is an important part of their Jewish identity. Jews value values, but which ones are more important, and to whom in the community? Are these values 'religious'? Are there any values we all share as Jews? And how do Jews in the UK compare to the rest of the population when it comes to donating money and time to social causes?
In episode two of the Jews Do Count podcast, Jon and Raymond examine ‘Jewish values’ and discuss what it means to different people and sections of the community. They are joined by David Mason, a former United Synagogue Rabbi and the current Executive Director of HIAS+JCORE, the Jewish voice on refugees and racial justice.
In 'Jews Do Count podcast', Dr Jonathan Boyd (Executive Director, Institute for Jewish Policy Research) and Raymond Simonson (CEO, JW3 London) come together to discuss Jewish identity today, drawing on the most recent JPR data and their longstanding experience of working in Jewish community life. The two hosts grapple with some of the findings from the landmark JPR report, ’Jews in the UK today’, published in February 2024, and explore some of its major themes with leading specialists from the UK Jewish community. The report is based on the responses of nearly 5,000 British Jews to the JPR National Jewish Identity Survey – the largest survey of its kind to date.
This series was produced, recorded and edited by Richard Miron from Earshot Strategies – the podcast consultancy.
